Add Seating to Your Patio With Outdoor Benches
Outdoor deck benches will go with almost any patio design and are necessary for creating that additional seating most are certain to need.
Benches can be found that have been created to fit into almost any style home. Outdoor benches can be manufactured out of wood, concrete, metal or resin to fit the homeowners taste.
There are many inexpensive outdoor benches made of a combination of wrought iron and wood slats that make a nice impression when decorating your patio. However, due to their basic design and the shape of the seat and back, they may be a little uncomfortable for more than a few minutes of use. Even those made of all wood should be tried out before using them as outdoor benches or no one will want to stay in them very long. Benches constructed of wicker or resin are cheaper but can be just as satisfactory.
Outoor benches can blend in with the patio layout and always be available when built into a retaining wall or deck. Individuals may use one bench for seating and another for holding pots of flowers or other growths. Whether the patio furniture is metal, wood, or resin it will have to be cleaned, sealed or otherwise cared for.
Concrete, Resin or Wood, Many Choices
While outdoor benches made of cement may seem to last longer, they can be cold to sit on, depending on the temperature, and if left in direct sunlight will absorb the heat and hold it longer than most other materials will, making them uncomfortable during weather shifts. Concrete cannot be easily moved in and out during the cold winters and therefore could begin to wear, but not until after many years.
Some outdoor benches built out of wood, are designed to accommodate the natural shape of the body and therefore provide maximum comfort. To keep it weather resistant and insect resistant it will need a yearly recoating of protectant. They can be disassembled and repaired if needed, including repainting the metal sides and feet.
Resin outdoor benches today can be made to have the color and look of wood, rattan, or even concrete. However, the problem with most resin products is when they get too cold they can easily chip or crack if bumped. Benches can get easily twisted or bent out of shape if they are allowed to become very hot when near a barbecue or in the sun.
