What You Can Do To Lessen The Issues You May Be Facing With Your Garden

There are so much benefits that you can acquire through using low voltage outdoor lighting. Not much electricity is use up with the use of those kinds of lighting plus it is an easy way of making your home extra beautiful. Although it is great to note that there are numerous benefits that come with owning low voltage lights, there are numerous problems and issues concerning it as well.

Loss of power and lights appearing dimmer

Loss of power and lights appearing dimmer than the others are the most common issues you must have experienced with low voltage outdoor lighting.

When you must have first purchased the lights, they were very bright and sparkly, but as time passed, it has lost its previous shine. The worst case scenario is purchasing a new bulb only to find out the next day it is no longer working.

The usual source of these issues is the same. Problems with the transformer result to this concern. Almost all transformers available in the market have a specific capacity indicated. This number is the maximum capacity that it can handle. It depends on the voltage that they would purchase. There are normally no problems with the use of these transformers if you would follow the specified amount of watts intended for its use.

This kind of issue occurs when the amount of bulbs or lights installed to your transformer is more than the one specified by the transformer. This is why with too much light plugged or connected; there are dim light bulbs or no light at all. This is when loss of power and dimness of lighting happens. The objects plugged to it are fighting for the energy and since it is insufficient it results to more issues.

For example, you purchase a transformer that can only handle 200 volts. In the previous uses, the transformer was fine because there were only 9 20 watt bulbs powered by it, so in total it is using 180 watts. This is something the transformer can handle. The light appears great in the garden. It is enhancing the beauty of the backyard. But as time passed, you decided to add 9 more 20 watt bulbs, which is 180 plus another 180 equating to 360. What you have istalled is something more that what the transformer can handle. The lights will not be sufficiently powered because of this.

This is when loss of power comes. The transformer is unable to provide the electricity need by the bulb which is why it is not lighting up even though you have plugged and unplugged the cables.

The same with dim lights, the transformer tries to distribute the power among the lights attached to it, which causes the light to be dimmer since they are not fully powered. This is certainly the effect if a number of lights are fighting over the power and the transformer, going beyond its capacity, is unable to handle it.

There are two things you can apply in order to solve the issue you are having and distribute sufficient energy to your bulbs. One is to lessen the amount of lights attached to the transformer, another is to purchase a transformer that can handle all the lights in their backyard or purchase another one where the other lights will be connected.

If you lessen the amount of bulbs fixed on a cable which is connected to a transformer, the light will surely brighten up to its full capacity. This is due to the fact that there are lesser bulbs attached to the main cable. Make sure though that the amount of lights left equal the amount that the transformer can handle.

That means if your transformer can only handle 500 volts and you plan on putting 20 watt bulbs, do your math and make sure it fits to the transformers capability. With the example, you can only put 25 20-watt bulbs in order to have them light up properly.

But if you desire to keep the light bulbs that you already have, purchasing another transformer or getting one that can handle all the voltages is a great idea. This way you will be able to accommodate more lighting in your home without the trouble of losing the bulb’s power or having a number of the lights dim.

As an extra check, another thing you can do is to check on the bulbs that they purchased. Often time cheap or unbranded light bulbs do not have the quality of expensive lighting which is why they tend to lose power more rapidly.  Investing lighting that is branded, or one of quality is a great idea. Trusted brands will be able to provide with products that can last for a long time. It is said that premature lost of power a usual drawback for low cost lightings.

All in all, you may find the use of low voltage outdoor lights very rewarding—when it is working. This adds up to the beauty of your yard and also helps you see at night. Click here to check out different low voltage outdoor lightings.
